A delicious evening of cheese and wine tasting last Friday saw more than R12 000 raised for The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund’s bursaries and scholarship funding campaign.

The wine tasting was held in conjunction with The Social Oaks, the new wine cellar at Salt Rock’s The Litchi Orchard.
More than 50 guests enjoyed a variety of reds, whites and rosés from 4 regions across South Africa.

Orphan Fund coordinator, Mpume Vilakazi extended special thanks to The Social Oaks’ Chris and Cara McDaniel for opening their doors to the Orphan Fund, and Bidvest McCarthy Toyota Ballito for generously donating some R5 000 toward the bursaries and scholarship funding campaign.

Through the money raised, 6 students are set to benefit from bursaries which provide an allowance for essential items, food and toiletries.

Scholarships go to underprivileged matriculants who show excellent results.
