New coffee and wine bar opens in Horace – InForum Leave a comment
HORACE, N.D. — A new coffee and wine bar has opened here at 574 Main St. N.
is owned by Jeanna Yaggie and her sons Austin, 23, Trevor, 20, and Dylan, 18.
While the family doesn’t live in Horace, they board two horses in the growing community 8 miles south of West Fargo.
Jeanna got the idea to open a coffee shop during an early morning trip to see her horses.
“I was out one morning really early and looking for a good cup of coffee and there just wasn’t anything out there,” Jeanna said.
That observation started the wheels turning for Jeanna, who said she’s always wanted to own her own business.
“I just decided with COVID and everything going on that I wanted to do something new. I’ve always wanted to own my own business,” she said. “I came to the conclusion that this would be fun because I love coffee. My boys and I started talking and brainstorming, and this started to become a thing.”

Grove Coffee and Wine opened in January in a strip mall located on the north edge of town. The 27,000-square-foot space can seat up to 95. The location also has a drive-thru.
While Trevor and Dylan help out at the coffee and wine bar, Austin, a controller for a drone company in Grand Forks, takes the lead in managing the finances.
“He’s kind of our numbers guy,” Jeanna said. “He’s the one that holds me accountable.”
California coffee and wine
The business serves coffee and espresso drinks from beans roasted in California, by way of Grand Forks, Jeanna said.
She explained that one of Austin’s co-workers in Grand Forks suggested they contact his brother, Chris Ryan, a coffee roaster in Sacramento.
They flew to California to check out his operation and fell in love with the beans at

Jeanna said the coffee has been a hit with customers.
“We’re getting regulars who come in because they like the way it tastes, so that’s a good sign,” she said. “It’s a really nice, smooth, easy drink. They’re also fair trade and organic, so that’s cool to know that they’ve been very mindful in where they’re getting their products from.”
Ryan also convinced them to carry wine from a boutique winery he represents called
. Grove Coffee and Wine sells by the glass and the bottle. Off-sale is also available.
Jeanna eventually hopes to host wine tastings and classes.
“As I’ve grown older, I’ve always wanted to learn more about wine and understand it better,” she said. “There are not a lot of places that allow or do that, so being able to do some special events like that will be fun.”

Buttercream Bliss Custom Cakes

The goods are made in a commercial kitchen across the street from the wine and coffee bar. The menu includes cookies, caramel rolls, cinnamon rolls, muffins, bagels and more. They also have a selection of gluten-free items.
“She (Amanda) has been a fun partner to have and does a really great job for us,” Jeanna said.
While Carson-Sandness says her specialty is probably wedding cakes, she’s grateful for the opportunity to partner with Yaggie at the Grove.
“Jeanna is an extremely hard worker. She has put her heart and soul into The Grove. I’m excited she chose me to be her baker and I look forward to what the future brings,” Carson-Sandness said in an email to The Forum.
Buttercream Bliss is not the only Horace business the Yaggies have partnered with. Jeanna said they mindfully and intentionally tried to use as many local businesses as possible, including contractors and the business tapped to cater their grand opening.
As a small, family-owned startup, Jeanna said supporting other local businesses was important to them.
