The annual Vine 2 Wine event, which benefits the Circle of Hope, will bring the Santa Clarita Valley community to the Wünderground in Porsche Santa Clarita on Saturday night to provide financial support to residents struggling to pay for cancer treatment. We supported the activities of commercial organizations.

Laura Kirchhoff, Executive Director of the Circle of Hope, said more than 325 attendees helped raise far more than the event’s goal of $ 100,000.

“Silent auctions, live auctions, and the funding we needed raised far more than we expected,” she said. “The more money we can make, the more we can help (use) people with cancer in our community.”

Kirchhoff said the Circle of Hope benefits from grants, corporate partners, and other sources of funding, including the community.

“We are here. We can do this thanks to the community and the support of the community,” she said.

Participants enjoyed wines from 27 wineries and breweries in and around the Santa Clarita Valley. I also had the opportunity to bid on 130 silent auction items and 10 live auction items donated by the community.

“There was a 10-person private tour to Jay Leno’s garage, which was $ 6,300, and it was a significant (bid) war over it,” she said. On weekends with a Porsche 911 race car.

Alison Lindemann, one of the three event co-chairs along Christy Grable and Nola Aronson, said the auction was a big part of the night’s success.

“The highlight was really having such a venue and sold-out attendance,” she said. “It’s like a kick-off to life in the community, and just such a disgusting request to participate in and support our mission.”

Porsche in Santa Clarita was one of the excited supporters to enable fundraising on Saturday.

“Porsche in Santa Clarita is very pleased to be able to support the Circle of Hope in its Vine 2 Wine fundraiser thanks to the generosity of the Boeckmann family,” said Sarah Horvet of Galpin Motors, referring to the dealer’s owner.

The funds raised on Saturday will help the Circle of Hope provide financial assistance during particularly difficult times.

When the COVID-19 hit, Kirchhoff said, “There are unemployment, furloughs, loss of insurance and they are in the process of having cancer.”

Then, in March of this year, she said, “Suddenly, it was a huge blow,” as people felt more comfortable returning to the clinic a year later without regular visits. ..

“There was one period of 25 new customers in three weeks,” Kirchhoff said. “Unfortunately, we are seeing people who have been diagnosed with stage 3 and stage 4 (cancer).”

Colleen Shaffer, founder of the Circle of Hope, was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer in the late 1990s. She was then told by the doctor that she had six months to live.

“I had a dream and needed something to give me courage,” she said of the founding of the Circle of Hope. “I was passionate about helping others … I wanted to give back to those who helped me over the years.”

The Circle of Hope was honored by Senator Scott Wilk of R-Santa Clarita as a non-profit organization in District 21 of the California Senate on Saturday night.

“Everyone has come into contact with cancer,” Wilk said. “The service provided by (Circle of Hope) is very important.”
