OVI: Lorain Road
A caller informed the police at 11:48 p.m. on Nov. 28 of a possibly intoxicated driver who was heading eastbound on Lorain Road.
The caller said the driver sat through several cycles of a traffic light at the intersection of Lorain and Barton roads.
An officer caught up to the SUV and observed it swerving between lanes without signaling. The officer stopped the vehicle on Lorain near Fleharty Drive.
The officer in his report noted smelling “an alcoholic beverage” when he approached the vehicle. The woman, when asked how much she had to drink, replied: “Enough.” She refused field sobriety tests and refused to submit a breath sample for an alcohol test. She slurred her words while answering questions, according to a police report.
The officer also noted a bottle of opened wine on the passenger floorboard.
Police charged the woman with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and cited her for marked lanes violations and failing to use turn signals.
Petty theft: Brookpark Road
Police a 4:45 p.m. Nov. 24 charged two women with petty theft after a store loss prevention officer said he witnessed them try to leave the store without paying for multiple rib roasts and hams.
The store employee said the women put the meat in their shopping carts and then removed price tags from some shirts. At a self-checkout register, the women rang up the price for the shirts while bagging the expensive meats.
The total amount for the falsely scanned items amounted to more than $178, according to a police report. Both women were charged with petty theft
Petty theft: Brookpark Road
Two police officers at 1:36 p.m. Nov. 19 responded to Walmart regarding a suspected female shoplifter being held at the store.
A Walmart loss prevention officer said he watched as the woman went through a self-checkout register and scanned some items but failed to scan others before bagging them and attempting to leave the store.
Police charged the woman with petty theft.
Shoplifting: Great Northern Boulevard South
Police officers responded at 6:08 p.m. Nov. 19 to Best Buy after a store loss prevention officer said he stopped a woman as she attempted to leave the store with wireless earbuds and wireless speakers totaling near $120.
Police charged the woman with petty theft.
The loss prevention officer said that shortly before her arrest, she had been in the store with another woman, and they unsuccessfully attempted to return different merchandise without a receipt.
