I’m dreaming of a white for Christmas.
Now don’t get your tinsel in a tangle. You can still drink your bottle of red wine after we enjoy a bottle of Falanghina with all the seafood we are serving on Christmas Eve.
You might not celebrate the Feast of the Seven Fishes, but I bet you will be having plenty tasty delights from the sea while gathering with family and friends waiting for Old St. Nick to arrive.
I love seafood, so I always have a few crab cakes on hand from Pappas Seafood in Maryland to enjoy around the holidays. Falanghina is grown around the Amalfi Coast, where fresh seafood is on the table every night. It is the perfect wine to serve with any of your favorite “fruitti de mare,” which means “fruit of the sea” in Italian.
The wine is exceptional on its own. However, I wanted to have a couple of glasses of Beneventano Tenimenti Amjnei Falanghina during a trial run for my holiday Feast of the Seven Fishes.
For starters, there are no rules. Maybe that’s why I only had five seafood items on my menu.
The wine was perfect with ahi tuna poke and smoked salmon crostini with capers, cream cheese and fresh dill. The pairing couldn’t be better with my linguini with clams, shrimp, and muscles. The tropical aromas and grilled pineapple flavors took me back to my last dinner in Sorento. I’ll take that over a chilly Northeast Ohio winter any day.
