A West Kelowna filmmaker is teaming with celebrity chef Bob Bulmer and Kelowna chef James Holmes to try and help the Ukrainian relief effort.
The event is scheduled for April 10 on the rooftop patio of West Kelowna’s Crown & Thieves winery.
The evening is part of a series of touring, food-focused events spearheaded by filmmaker Norm Coyne to help promote the feature film The Way to the Heart, which he produced and Blumer stars in. The Way to the Heart premieres on Super Channel on April 9.
“My wife and I are new to Kelowna and are huge fans of Crown & Thieves,” said Coyne. “Being able to partner with Chef James Holmes and Bob while he is in Canada is unbelievably special.”
The film has a culinary focus and proceeds from the event will be used to help support the UN Refugee Agency’s relief efforts in Ukraine and nearby countries. The UNHCR provides shelter, food, water, medical care, and other life-saving assistance to refugees around the world.
Those attending will receive a six-course meal with wine pairings, featuring courses from both Blumer & Chef Holmes. The night will also feature unique attractions, including a performing mentalist and collectible silent auction items. Jason Parkes and his band Proper Man will be playing live music in the Broken Hearts Club speakeasy located at the bottom level of the building.
“I have worked with Blumer many times through the years and these events always have quality surprises,” said Coyne. “The Crown & Thieves team is taking things to the next level with this one!”
