The sentenced Walter Sisulu University student, Sibongile Mani, used over R800 000 of the NSFAS funding erroneously paid into her account, to buy luxury items including 11 microwaves, 12 cordless kettles, jackets and wine.
This was according to Magistrate Twanett Olivier, who, on Wednesday, sentenced Mani to five years direct imprisonment for the theft of NSFAS funds.
